Retirement is often imagined as the finish line.
For Marian, it became another unexpected chapter.
After leaving the working world, she initially found retirement less exciting than she had imagined. She had more free time, but she also had to figure out what would make that time meaningful.
She began exploring new interests, created a vision board, and discovered painting. Eventually, in 2018, she moved to The Villages in Florida.
There, she found a community filled with activities, golf courses, clubs, restaurants, golf carts, and opportunities to enjoy life on her own terms.
Her experience offers an important reminder: retirement doesn’t have to mean slowing down completely.
It can mean discovering what comes next.
It can mean trying something new.
It can mean making friends, exploring interests, traveling, creating, laughing, and enjoying the freedom you’ve worked for.
And sometimes, the next chapter turns out to be just as surprising as the ones that came before.
